Terrible Truths - Twelve Songs by Accrington Stanley (1987)

Recorded in a School Music Room using a two-track recorder. The embryo Accrington Stanley prior to growing a bass player. Guest appearances by various people who were passing by to say hello. The criminally-forgotten "She Climbs Mountains". Bored mucking about masquerading as avant-garde atonality in "Football". Most significantly for Mankind, the first recorded presence of the ubiquitous "James Stewart". The School Chaplain read Christian messages into the songs. But it was generally agreed that he was a twat.
Lineup: Dan O' Farrell - Guitar and Vocals; Richard Barrett - Bass, Keyboards, vocals;
Chris Walsh - Drums
Track Listing: Running For King | Shamble Shamble | My Blue Days | 700 Miles | She Climbs Mountains | James Stewart | Confused? You Will Be... | February 8th | Stay | Louisia | Sometimes Now | Football | Beaten | Pins and Medals | Goin' Down the Mayfair
Notes: Sir John Titcombe was the man behind the mixing desk, or in this case behind a "borrowed" reel-to-reel tape recorder and 6-channel stage mixer. Mario Turzo plays trumpet on "Running for King". A shaky handheld video exists of the recording of this masterpiece, courtesy of Benny Radford. Mario is for some odd reason instructed to play his parts from outside the building. |
